Two other young woman are standing behind the man looking on. The man — sitting in a Chippendale chair — glances over his shoulder while gesturing at the board, apparently looking to them to help resolve a dispute. The game of chance as a metaphor for romance is underscored by the four-line poems below the image, rendered in French and English below the titles. The backgammon game being played differs somewhat from the contemporary version we play today — in addition to the familiar board and checkers, the players are also using a deck of cards.

Product description continues below.

[4226,956,6779,5349,6842,6883
195,7849,7048,1054,2029,7850,124,2202,475,1512,1844,1610,4460,2140
0":"post-22257","1":"product","2":"type-product","3":"status-publish","4":"has-post-thumbnail","6":"product_cat-bedroom-room-decor","7":"product_cat-genre-humor","8":"product_cat-genre","9":"product_cat-graduation-gifts","10":"product_cat-holiday-gifts","11":"product_cat-valentines-day","12":"product_tag-18th-century","13":"product_tag-anthony-walker","14":"product_tag-antique-print","15":"product_tag-art","16":"product_tag-artist","17":"product_tag-backgammon","18":"product_tag-british","19":"product_tag-caricature","20":"product_tag-english","21":"product_tag-engraving","22":"product_tag-game","23":"product_tag-humor","24":"product_tag-romance","25":"product_tag-satire","26":"post","27":"post-with-thumbnail","28":"post-with-thumbnail-large","30":"first","31":"instock","32":"purchasable","33":"product-type-simple
["GET
