It contained numerous scientific diagrams demonstrating or showing principles of planetary motion and features, other astronomical phenomena, the moon, and the constellations. Also included is a picture of the use of an orrery in an elementary classroom. The visual elements in Smith’s astronomical prints are characterized by simple graphic images against a black background, as well as repeating geometric forms and linear elements, typically circles and ovals. Originally copyrighted in 1848, numerous editions followed up to 1866.

Product description continues below.

[5975,554,5349
42,7048,9298,1494,8245,9303,9302,1529,172,9300,488,9248,5585,144,8062,38,7948,1673,7837,2023,734,3614,9299,9301,548,3615,1388
0":"post-15899","1":"product","2":"type-product","3":"status-publish","4":"has-post-thumbnail","6":"product_cat-astronomy-outer-space-exploration","7":"product_cat-astronomy-celestial","8":"product_cat-graduation-gifts","9":"product_tag-19th-century","10":"product_tag-antique-print","11":"product_tag-asa-smith","12":"product_tag-astronomy","13":"product_tag-celestial-chart","14":"product_tag-celestial-print","15":"product_tag-comets","16":"product_tag-diagram","17":"product_tag-earth","18":"product_tag-eclipses","19":"product_tag-illustrated","20":"product_tag-jupiter","21":"product_tag-mars","22":"product_tag-moon","23":"product_tag-neptune","24":"product_tag-planetary","25":"product_tag-planets","26":"product_tag-print","27":"product_tag-saturn","28":"product_tag-seasons","29":"product_tag-smith","30":"product_tag-smiths","31":"product_tag-smiths-astronomy","32":"product_tag-tides","33":"product_tag-venus","34":"product_tag-woodblock","35":"product_tag-zodiac","36":"post","37":"post-with-thumbnail","38":"post-with-thumbnail-large","40":"first","41":"instock","42":"purchasable","43":"product-type-simple
["GET
