He is well known for his views of New York City, emphasizing the steel and granite splendors of bridges, monuments, and tall buildings. He taught art at Hunter College and at the New School in New York City. His works are represented in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Newark Museum, the New York Public Library, the New-York Historical Society, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and the Library of Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Condition: Each generally very good with the usual overall light toning and wear. Subjects included the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor, the George Washington Bridge, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Manhattan skyline and the Church of the Transfiguration, popularly known as \u201cThe Little Church Around the Corner.\u201d Lowell frequently juxtaposed the architecture\u2019s geometry and details with the irregular shapes of foliage or shadows.
