The Chicago Girls Flying Club was active in the 1930s, holding air shows at Hangar One in Glenview, Illinois, north of Chicago. The club counted among its members Willa Brown Chappell (1906-1992), the first African-American woman to become a commercial pilot.<\/p>\n

The Chicago Girls Flying Club held their 3rd annual air carnival on September 19, 1937. According to an article prior to the event in American Aviation<\/strong>, over 20 “leading women pilots” were expected to compete in front of a crowd of up to 20,000 people.
