[View of U.S. Capitol]
American: 1950s-1970s
Photograph, black and white
15.5 x 19.5 inches, overall
$250
Photograph of construction workers assembling the girders of a Senate Office Building, with the U.S. Capitol in the background. One worker stands and watches the other, who is perched atop a vertical beam as he grasps another being lowered into place. A small title card identifies the photograph as “Senate Office Bldg.” There are three Senate Office Buildings, the Russell from the early 20th century; the Dirksen, which began construction in 1954; and the Hart, which began construction in 1976. This photo was presumably taken during construction of the Dirksen or the Hart; based on the frame it was found in, it is more likely the former.
Title card: CV-3637, Senate Office Bldg., Washington, D.C.
Condition: Generally very good with the usual overall light toning and wear. Paper slightly rippled. Very faint pale foxing spot.
