Mathew Carey was a key figure in the development of early American cartography and publishing. Carey immigrated to the U.S. from Ireland and established the first specialized cartographic publishing firm in America, employing printers, engravers and colorists. With their combination of up-to-date cartographic information and a high standard of craftsmanship, Carey’s maps are considered among the best American maps of the era.

Condition: Generally very good with the usual light toning, wear, soiling, soft creases. center vertical fold as issued.
