Unusually large wall map of Boston, Cambridge, and vicinity, measuring approximately five by seven feet overall. Drawn at a scale of 800 feet to the inch, it is very detailed, showing streets, waterways, railways and the locations of major parks and buildings.

George H. Walker Lithograph and Publishing Company published atlases, maps and pocket maps in the late 19th century and early 20th century.

Description

There is a map seller’s stamp below cartouche: “Kenney Bros. & Wolkins, Boston, Mass.” Kenney Bros. & Wolkins was the predecessor of Wolkins Company, a school supply manufacturer and distributor founded in 1844. It was known as Kenney Bros. & Wolkins from 1902 to the late 1930s.

Condition: Generally very good with the usual overall toning and wear. Professionally cleaned and deacidified, largely removing discoloration at bottom and other scattered minor staining. Professionally rebacked on linen stabilizing short tears and flattening soft creases.
