Richly colored landscape with palm trees on both sides of a narrow body of water. French Impressionism exerted a strong influence on American painters in the late 19th century, and in this work MacNeal shows that he was conversant with Impressionist ideas about color, light and the landscape.
Frederic S. MacNeal was an American painter who lived in Boston, Massachusetts, and is best known for his landscapes. He was listed in the American Art Annual of 1901.
Condition: Generally very good with only minor toning, and some scattered wear, abrasions, soiling.
