A Fine Regency Adjustable Mahogany Reading Table

A fine library accessory can be used as a table, reading stand, or book stand, with the top adjustable in angle, and adjustable in height. The rectangular table top, carved at top and side borders with incised foliate design, and with removable molded bookrest at the bottom, adjustable at various angles with brass and wood ratchet mechanism. The stand with guilloche and other decorative carving, adjustable in height with ratchet mechanism in two rectangular upright supports joined by two rectangular cross members, and raised upon two pairs of splayed legs, ending in brass paw casters.

Condition: Generally very good, the mahogany with a nice patina. Old repair to one leg. Decorative carving possibly from or enhanced in the Victorian era.
