A floor-standing adjustable antique George II British tripod mahogany reading or book stand. Of typical form, it has two-part table top as closed, the upper portion a backrest hinged to the lower portion and opening up to an angle of 90 degrees. The turned mahogany stand has a central baluster central standard, raised on three splayed legs ending in turned ball feet. The angle of the upper part of the top is adjusted at various angles by wooden ratchet mechanism in the lower portion, and has a thin horizontal book support at the lower edge.

Condition: Generally very good with the usual overall light aging and wear. Finish a bit worn, can be completely professionally French polished for $500 at expense of purchaser, to be arranged by seller.
