Description

The studies come from a set of 50 plates engraved by Jean Boussard. While some of the structures depicted in this series were actually built with their locations noted on the print, others were more likely imaginative flights of fancy. The title of each indicates the name and purpose of the structure and often includes the name of the architect.

Jean Boussard was a French architect, artist and etcher. In 1881 he issued two folios of architectural plates: Constructions et Decorations Pour Jardins, 50 plates of garden architecture and Petites Habitations Françaises: Maisons, Villas, Pavillons, 100 plates of “small French homes.” He also issued an undated set of 52 plates of contemporary funerary monuments called Recueil des Tombeaux les Plus Remarquables.

Condition: Generally very good with the usual light overall toning and wear. Some scattered foxing, generally confined to margins, and can be matted out.
