Interior designer Alexa Hampton selected a vintage model staircase from the George Glazer Gallery for an article in Domino: The Shopping Magazine for Your Home. The two-page layout shows items chosen by her that “reveal the tricks she relies upon when designing her classic tailored interiors.” Ms. Hampton is president of Mark Hampton, Inc., “the esteemed design firm started by her late father,” located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Our mahogany spiral staircase appeared under the heading “architectural accessories,” with this comment by Ms. Hampton: “I was brainwashed into loving these by my father, who was David Hicks’ first American associate and who shared Hicks’ passion for the way historical objects create skylines on tables and inject a scholarly feel. Bill Blass had one of these on a big center table in his bedroom.”
