The terrestrial globe surmounted by chrome finial an hour circle, canted on chromed inclination arm, raised stepped round white bakelite base. Geographical entities shaded and outlined in various colors, including purple, green, orange, yellow, and with British Commonwealth of Nations in red. Anglo Egyptian Sudan (1899-1956) is in diagonal stripes. Cartouche notes: “Railways” indicated by red lines; “Steamer route distances [shown] in Sea-miles.”
Istanbul is shown, also indicating a date of after 1930, when the name change occurred. In addition, the globe shows Northern Territory in Australia, which replaced Central Territory on maps after 1931. Italian Somaliland, a colony of the Kingdom of Italy is shown, indicating a date up to about 1936 when it became Somalia. These and other geographical notations suggest that the globe was made in the early to mid 1930s.
