The 18-inch terrestrial globe with brass hour discs at North Pole, in full graduated brass meridian, the horizon with engraved paper calendar and zodiac, raised on a mahogany tripod stand with central turned baluster standard and incurved legs, joined near the bottom with compass in turned wooden round holder, ending in porcelain casters. Oklahoma is shown asIndian Territory, the Dakota is one territory.

W. & A.K. Johnston was among the most important figures in the production of globes in the late 19th century and early 20th century. This particular globe was made by Johnston most likely for the British market. The cartouche bears a dedication to "The Queen" not found on American imports. For more information about W& A.K.
