Rule VI. A ball must not be pushed, scraped, nor spooned.
Rule VIII. Unless with the opponents consent a ball in play shall not be moved...

American: c. 1950s
Gouache on stiff paper
8 x 13 inches, sheet
6.5 x 8.5 inches, image
$1,750, the pair
Pair of humorous colorful caricatures of the Rules of Golf. Golf images of virtually identical format created by Charles Crombie--an artist known for his golf subjects--were used as a promotion for the bottled water company Perrier, which issued them in a portfolio of 24 prints. These two examples, though unsigned, are in the painterly style and execution of Crombie. Accordingly, in our opinion, they can be attributed to Crombie or his studio as original designs for, or based on, the Crombie Rules of Golf series.

Condition: Generally very good, the colors bright and fresh, with the usual overall light wear. Small water drop stain to one image.
