Golfers search for their ball in the water surrounding the green of the 7th hole at a Naples, Florida, golf course.

Rene Clark, an illustration artist, is best remembered for his watercolors. On the occasion of his exhibition at the Society of Illustrators in 1956, an article about him was published in the magazine American Artist, subtitled "An appreciation of an artist who, for more than forty years had a profound effect on advertising art and, over the same of years, has also practised [sic] independent painting in watercolor."

The author of the article particularly mentions Clark's golf scenes, quite likely referring to the offered Naples golf course scene among others: "When Rene Clark paints a golf course, he not only paints the rolling fairways and rows of trees which border it, he also paints the players. When he records a landscape in Florida, whether it is a scintillating view of water in daylight or a moody night scene, people are often part of it. This is somehow significant."
