Decorative natural history vignettes of a peacock, an insect, butterflies, fish, shells, and birds. Unusual for its combination of diverse natural history forms, it perhaps was issued as ideas for designs for ceramics, wall paper, fabric, etc.
J.L. Marks drew and engraved satirical pictures, and also printed works by others. He was active between 1820 and 1850. Examples of his work are in the collection of the Guildhall Library and Guildhall Art Gallery London, where they can be viewed online.
Condition: Generally very good with the usual light toning, soiling, foxing, soft creases. Few short marginal tears neatly restored. Toning slightly more pronounced on right margin.
