In this wonderful series of engravings, John Hill has shown a variety popular and beautiful ornamental flowers, several images to a page, expertly hand-colored. The Tulips print is particularly nice, based on the work of the renowned Dutch flower artist, Jan van Huysum. Great Annual Helianthus -- a bold sunflower -- is shown with the Double Violet Poppy and other showy blossoms.

"Gardening is to be considered in a double light; as it regards products of use and those of pleasure."

-- John Hill
