Pair of allegorical prints from a series published by Bassett after Eugène Bourgeois depicting virtues: "La Prière" showing a woman in prayer with clasped hands and "L'Amabilité," kindness. The women are rendered in "the black pencil manner after Bourgeois," in a French empire style, with elaborate hairstyles and ornaments. Legend on prints state that they were engraved for the Bureau of Engraving ("Bureau des Estampes").
Condition: Generally very good with the usual overall light toning and wear.
