W.L. Hamilton The Hamilton Aerial Map of Manhattan Hamilton Aerial Map Service, New York: 1927 Photographic prints on paper 31 x 34 inches each Prices Vary: $950 to $3,500 each |

The Hamilton Aerial Map was an unusual product. Aviation, combined with photography, gave a new dimension to map making, and produced an aerial map. There were only two such collections of aerial maps published for New York in this era, one with photography by Hamilton Maxwell, Inc. (shown here), and the Fairchild Aerial Camera version done in 1924. This Hamilton effort was done on a much larger scale (1 inch = 200 feet) and covered only Manhattan.
