The spherical solid wood globe with applied black slating in full tin meridian, the horizon band with engraved paper calendar and zodiac (in Czech language) and illustrated figures of the zodiac, raised on a Biedermeier style blond parcel stand with ebonized highlights having four turned baluster supports on flat cruciform stretcher, ending in disk feet.

Felkl was the leading European globe producer of the late 19th Century, exporting globes throughout England and Europe. This example has a slated surface for students to draw chalk geographical and celestial maps. It is attributed to Felkl based on its purchase in Prague and based on the art and language of the horizon band.
