The terrestrial globe in full meridian, the full frieze surmounted by the horizon band with engraved paper calendar and zodiac, raised on three reeded legs joined by a turned stretcher supporting a round compass dish, ending in brass casters.
Cartography includes Palestine and Manchukuo indicating a date of 1930s to 1945. This globe has an unusually handsome and well-crafted mahogany stand, in the same style as an English Regency globe of the 1820s. Rand McNally, a prominent map publisher, began globe production in Chicago in the late 19th Century. For more information see our Guide to Globemakers.
