Pictorial map of Martha’s Vineyard, a summer ocean resort island off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts and adjacent to Nantucket. The map is rich with illustrations and extensive historical information. Prominent geographic features such as ponds, bays, harbors, streams, roads and beaches are labeled, and in the case of major hills, illustrated. Important landmarks such as historic buildings and light houses are also depicted. The map is printed in black and highlighted in with bright hand-painted accents of color.

Lloyd Coe was a Massachusetts painter, illustrator and cartoonist, known for beach scenes, landscapes and illustrations. He studied at the National Academy of Design and illustrated over 35 books. He also illustrated for magazines such as The New Yorker. During the 1950s he served for four years as president of the Rockport Art Association. His original cartoons, sketches and drawings are housed in the archives of Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts.
